No spam. Just one written flat rate, and no obligation.
Northwest Moving is a locally owned Burlington crew moving homes, apartments, and offices across Skagit County, the islands, and long-distance. Our own trucks, our own people, and one number in writing instead of a running meter.
- Written flat rate
- No hidden fees
- Licensed & insured
You get one number, and it holds
Ask most Skagit movers for a price and they quote an hourly rate, then the clock runs the bill up. We do it differently: a firm number in writing before the truck ever shows, with packing and any storage already in it.
Walk us through it
Tell us the rooms, the stairs, the parking, and your dates, over the phone, on video, or in person.
See it in writing
You get one flat number back from our Burlington office, usually the same working day you ask.
Decide on your terms
Getting the quote commits you to nothing. Book us only if the number makes sense for you.
Our trucks. Our crew. No strangers.
We do not broker your move out, hire day-labor, or send a name you have never heard of. The crew at your door works for Erik, and every truck in the lot is ours, lettered, blanket-stocked, and maintained by us.
- Real employeesBackground-checked, trained movers who load Skagit homes week in and week out.
- One crew, all dayThe same team loads, drives, unloads, and places, so nothing gets dropped in a hand-off.
- Careful by habitBlanket-wrapped furniture, runners on your floors, and doorways padded before we carry.
What we handle
Local Moving
Houses, apartments, and condos all over the Skagit Valley, one flat price and everything wrapped.
02Long-Distance
Out-of-area runs on our own truck with our own crew, loaded once, delivered by the same team.
03Commercial / Office
Evening and weekend office and shop moves, COI and elevator timing arranged.
04Packing & Materials
Whole-home or just-the-fragiles packing with sturdy boxes, paper, and blankets.
05Climate Storage
Dry, climate-controlled storage to bridge the gap from one place to the next.
06Specialty Items
Pianos, safes, gun safes, and other heavy, awkward pieces, handled properly.
Rain, ferries, or farm roads, we still show
A move up here comes with its own weather: wet driveways, a ferry to catch out to the islands, and long rural lanes off the Skagit flats. We plan for all of it, keep your things dry, and still hit your window.
Rain-ready loading
Floors get runners, pieces get shrink-wrap, and we tarp the ramp so a wet day never soaks your furniture.
Ferry and island timing
Heading to Anacortes, Whidbey, or Camano? We build the sailing schedule right into the plan.
Windows we hold
Backed up on I-5 or not, we keep the time we gave you and call ahead before we roll.

The Northwest Moving promise
If a move goes sideways, we set it straight. You get a firm arrival window, a claims process spelled out in plain language, and a crew that looks after your home like it is their own.
✔ A window we keep — we show up when we said, or you hear from us first.
✔ A price that stays put — the written figure is what you pay at the end.
✔ Claims made simple — anything damaged is logged on the spot and handled in writing.
✔ No fine print — fuel, mileage, and stairs are already inside your quote.
Burlington moving FAQ
How do you hold the flat rate?
The number comes off what you actually have and how we get to it, we write it down, and we stand behind it. If the load matches what you told us, the figure at the end is the one you signed.
Is it your crew or subcontractors?
Ours, every time. Erik runs a small, trained crew on our own trucks, no broker in the middle, no day-labor, and nobody you have not heard of handling your things.
Do you still move in the rain?
All the time, this is the Northwest. Runners go down, furniture gets shrink-wrapped, and we tarp the ramp so nothing gets soaked between the door and the truck. Weather does not push your date.
Do you move pianos, safes, and gun safes?
Absolutely, and the price is already in your flat rate. The heavy, awkward pieces get a proper board, straps, and padding, handled by movers who have shifted plenty of them.
Can you hold my things in storage?
We can. Clean, climate-controlled storage, a week or a year, and the cost sits inside your written flat rate instead of a separate surprise bill.
Can you move to or from the islands?
Yes. We run moves to Anacortes, Whidbey, Camano, and the San Juans regularly, and we fold the ferry sailing and any wait right into the plan and the price.
Can you handle a building COI or HOA rules?
Yes. Plenty of North Sound condos, offices, and HOAs want a Certificate of Insurance and a booked elevator. Pass us the rules and we file the COI and lock the window ahead of the day.
How soon should I reserve a date?
A couple of weeks ahead is plenty, though month-ends and weekends book up first. If a crew is open we will still take next-day and same-week jobs, so it never hurts to ask.
Do you need a deposit?
A small refundable one reserves your date and crew, and that is it. Everything else is due once the job wraps up, and the estimate itself never costs a cent.
Do you handle military and PCS moves?
Yes. With Whidbey and Naval Station Everett nearby, PCS and off-base moves are routine for us, done on our own trucks at one written price, on the timeline your orders need.
Locally owned, Burlington-based
Erik Nordby started Northwest Moving with a single truck and a straightforward idea: quote people a fair number in writing and hold it. More than a decade later he still runs the crew himself, on our own trucks, moving Skagit and North Sound families every week.
